So in case the readers of my failing xanga blog haven't noticed, I will not be updating it while I'm overseas. It's difficult enough to update my one blog! Annnnd it just goes to show how much free time I had in the States. I probably won't check comments on here, but I WILL check my blogspot blog! So talk to me on that one. It's http://winter-rains.blogspot.com

I love it here in Scotland and I'm coming back next year, if they'll take me. :)

(way to spring that on ya, huh?)

So the ankle is getting better! Hopefully it will be all ready to go by Friday.

I successfully managed to punch itunes in the face yesterday! My sister had an old MP3 player from a few years ago that she dumped for an ipod last year. So the thing has just been sitting around with the ability to hold 10,000 songs, but no songs on it. I snatched it and after 7 hours and a VERY big headache, I was able to convert my itunes songs into Realplayer MP3s (which is then able to play on the MP3 player)!!!!  Basically, I can now listen to all my itunes songs without having had to buy and ipod. Take that!!

I wrote up a huge packing list and it's a least a page long. Time (and my packing skills) will tell if I'll actually be able to fit all that junk in there.

I LOVE grapefruit juice! Oh man. I can't even tell you how much I've had this past month. I drink about 2 glasses for breakfast every morning. But sadly, it's just another thing I probably won't get too much of while I'm gone. Who knows though - maybe I'll develop a weird love for British food.

So the dollar is getting better in ratio with the British Pound. About a month ago it was about 2:1 - two dollars would get one pound. But this morning, it dropped down to 1.86:1. And after doing some math, if I paid the rest of what I owe, it would save me almost $350!! So, moral of the story is that everyone should pray for me that the pound will keep falling. :)

Talk about China and their obsession with image has been in the papers lately. What with the poor little girl who was told she was too ugly to sing for the opening ceremony (they had someone lip sync to her song instead - someone "cuter"). And I agree, I think this is true, but I don't think China is the exception here. The Chinese admit when they think someone is too ugly, and I think we do this to here in the States. We tell models/ballerinas/actresses/etc they are too fat/old/whatever to do things, and we're getting all gripey about China doing the same thing? I think it's quite possible that if the same thing happened here, we just wouldn't admit it.

I'm listening to the Children of Dune sountrack while writing my book! Nothing like a little Fremen music to get the creative thoughts going. :)

I bought a bag for Scotland yesterday! It was the biggest backpack I could find, and only at $100 (with shipping). Normally these things run for a $200 minimum. So praise God for that!

I wonder if all that running is bad for these Olympians who run marathons. I wonder if some of them have had this happen:

Aloe Vera failed me today. Milk works so much better on sunburns. Bleh. Since my legs don't really get any sun, even a little bit makes them feel like they're on fire. The milk makes them feel stiff. Strange.

I'm moving out  in less than a week. It's kind of a bittersweet thing. I'll miss everyone here and all the stuff that happened here - kind of the end of the last 5 years of my life.  But I know that when I leave, it's for something awesome that will happen soon. About 2 months until I leave! Yikes.

I'm not sure how I feel about sleeping with milky legs tonight....

This is what happened last week with Laurel, the 3 and a half year old I watch. This was while we were playing with a doll family and their dollhouse. Bear in mind that none of these dolls are missing.

Me: Okay I have the mommy and the daddy.."
Laurel: And I have the sister!
Me: Where is the brother?
Laurel: (pauses) I think he's in heaven.
Me: Uh...okay...

Children are so interesting. I really wasn't expecting her to say that.

I'm reading the book above, hoping to get some more inside info before I go over. It was so odd - I was standing in the travel section and looking at all the books on Scotland and the reality of it just hit me. I looked through some of the books and all I could think was, "I'm going to be here in less than 3 months." Yikes. Like I told someone a few nights ago, I've felt God leading me to go to Scotland for awhile now, and it's like my heart is already over there, and I'm just going to where my heart is.

Fund raising is going well - I'm about halfway there now! The whole thing with this is that it's really taught me about the uses of money and greed. In the past, I never really paid any attention to people from church and whatnot asking me for support money. But now that I'm in the same boat, I would definitely support people now! I guess I've just taken inventory of all of the things in my life and I've realized how little I actually need them, and then I see how much someone else might need the money that I wasted. It's so interesting how God teaches us things - I ask people for money and wind up reevaluating my use of money. It's not all that surprising though. :)

I have a problem. I have SO MANY books. I love to read, and not just read, read books 2 and 3 times. I love it!! Although, my reading experience is dwarfed next to Christina who reads the Harry Potter series every year in about, what is it...2 months? Craziness. I also really love Law and Order SVU. It's a problem...

And Christina, I just heard someone on TV speak in a Spanish accent....mmm.....Honestly, who knew that attraction was hiding in there? haha
